F O C U S

I'm wretched at writing academic essays.

So today I am trying a new strategy. This new strategy involves sitting in a sunlit corner of the building (i.e. my dorm) where there is no electrical outlet within reach of the computer cord. Then it involves forcing yourself to keep at it until the juice of your laptop battery runs dry. When this happens, you are allowed to return to a charging area (i.e. my room), plug it in, and to take as much of a break as you like until the battery is fully charged again. Then unplug yourself and go back.

Repeat procedure. Adjust computer contrast to set approximate time.

Of course, if you have a tiny laptop that can go for 6 hours without a recharge, such as the one my friend in Hist. of Asian Architecture uses, you may want to reconsider this strategy, unless you think you can muster and hold concentration for that long, which is highly doubtful. Otherwise, we'll see how well this goes for now. It still requires some discipline to say, "Brain, shut up and work."

Haha, I do the opposite. I only allow myself to play on my laptop until it dies, and then back to the books. Since my laptop has about 15 minutes of battery life, that seems to work pretty well.
