Why Natural Waters Are Scary

Because in most cases, try as you might, you will not even be able to outswim things like this:

And THESE

Don't pull the, "Oh, but these are deep-sea creatures" card with me. You know damn well there are things above the continental shelf that are just as bad!

(... Actually, they're really fascinating as long as I'm not in the water with them. Did you know that they failed to bring good specimens up to the surface for years, because scientists didn't realize that they were so well adapted to the high water pressure that coming up to the surface basically meant an exploding pile of slimy, giant eyes and pointy teeth the size of steak knives?)

(Or at least that's what I remembering reading as a child. But see see see? Too bad there aren't captions to these pictures, but I am betting those are innards that are coming out due to coming into lower pressure. Yes. How interesting!)

(I still hate swimming in natural waters.)

You are missing out on one of the age-old joys of life, my dear. Many a day have I passed bathing in the warmed waters, using the darkened waters as natural sunscreen (for my lower half, anyways).... ah, those are the days. Hopefully soon to come!

Yeah, there are things creeping about in those darkened waters, honey, I will sit on the beach building a mega sand fortress and watching you paddle around from afar.
