In excellent consideration of the predicament that my (now previous) camera ate battery juice like a hungry wolf with a fresh, dead moose left to himself, and I'll be needing something more decent than that to help document
my next year in Not-America, a group of good friends from home recently pitched in and presented me with
eine brandneue Canon PowerShot A590 digital camera. I am very delighted. The two of us have been spending close, get to know one another time together while the old Leica moped around and grumbled after I sent it gently to the corner and told it to have a good think about how it's been behaving, and don't expect dinner until you have.
Here are just a few of the recent dozens of test shots that I've done since I got it Wednesday night. I uploaded them at a smaller resolution for the blog. They're nothing extraordinary because I'm still trying out what it can do, but you have to admit that my dog is bizarre/adorable.
(
Thanks again to everyone involved!)

(He's an Applehead Chihuahua, by the way. I don't know what the bulb-shaped yellow tomatoes are called, but they're crunchy and delectable. My dog isn't, though.)
