Kiki leaves home all on her own to find a brand new city with practically nobody she knows and makes her living there. Miyazaki, also known to be greatly influenced by European styles, has made the settings in this movie veeery European. And it looks almost just like Regensburg! I can relate to this movie so well right now.
I guess this doesn't mean much if you've never seen the film or don't know of any Miyazaki movies, but it will if you have!
If you don't think this looks exactly like so many European cities, then you have not seen Europe.
Minus the red-bowed girl flying over on a broomstick.

omg i love the new layout. it's soo pretty!
and i love that movie!!! i'm def going to watch it sometime soon. maybe i'll introduce my mother to miyazaki (she's here now for a month!! i'm going to go insane!) it definitely felt that way too. but things always work out in the end, right?! :D
Thanks a lot! It took me a few days of good style and HTML tweaking, and TONS of schlocking through theme websites, to finally set this final layout. Ironically, I eventually built my own partially from scratch instead of using one of the hundreds I browsed through :P .
Seriously, you gotta watch that movie again sometime, though especially so after you've already come here to Regensburg. That movie hits such a spot in me right now, haha.
heh....kinda happens that I have nearly all Studio Ghibli (=Miyazaki) movies available. I would suggesst "Howls moving casle" or "porco rosso" for the "european-like town feeling".
Just ask.

I've never seen Porco Rosso yet (leider!), but I watch Howl's Moving Castle almost at least every week ;) . And yes, it also has a very, very, very European feel.
