Illogggggicccccal

I have never understood what seems to be the trend in the overwhelming majority regarding repeated letters in a word typed online of repeating the very last letter, as opposed to the usual vowel that you would most likely emphasize in verbal speech.

That is...

usually, you see things like this:

"It was amazinggggg!"
or
"This paper is due in an hour, crappppp"
or even (truly the silliest of them all)
"Yesterday was awesomeeeeee!"

Whereas I almost always write, "amaaaaaazing," "craaaaap," and "aaaaawesome" in place of the above. (Um... should the need arise for these words.)

.......

It sort of makes me twitch sometimes, to be honest. Not much. Just a little twitch. A weeeeeee little twitch...

(PS -- I know that there are cases in English where doubling a letter would change the sound. But I don't care. I would much rather multiply the vowel than continuously trip face-first across a mile-long consonant stream.)

This reminds me of something my sister showed me once:

It's a "dramatic reading" of a break-up letter that has been written in the typical bad English of the internet. It has one of those consonant streams and the speaker really goes for it. You might find it entertaining.

Wow :D . The inflections on "WORLDDDDDDDDD" have got to be one of the best parts. (But you see my point??)

Yes. To me it's nothing short of ridiculous.
