Paved With Gold

While walking today, I wondered about the average collective amount of money that can be found lying on the streets of a given city, and also how one would go about finding that out. On a side note, the largest denomination of money that I have found here so far is €0.10 .

(Michael posted: "!! this is so interesting: have you noticed that there is NEVER any money lying around here?! i swear, the only money i have ever found lying on the ground is that which i have just dropped! it's so weird. i remember finding pennies and quarters everywhere in the us... does it seem that way to you too?")

I know, it is kind of odd... And as far as €0.10, I've really only found one twice: once in a likely tourist location, and once under a bench at one of the university cafes. And I do a hell of a lot more walking and watching of the ground here than in the US, so... it is sort of odd, isn't it? Maybe the change is heavier and more noticeable when you drop it. *lol*. I certainly would hardly dream of finding a €1 on the ground, despite that they are probably just as if not more common than quarters.

Oh, additional note. I kept constantly getting fooled for the longest time by flattened beer bottle caps here :D . But it seems my brain has subconsciously adjusted and accepted the fact that there is simply hardly any loose change to be found lying on the ground in Regensburg. It's always just a bottle cap.
